Policy Adviser at the New Zealand High Commission in Pretoria

Mr Bewana currently works as a policy advisor at the New Zealand High Commission. Prior to this position, he conducted research in a parliamentary caucus, providing strategic analysis and research to support Members of Parliament (MPs) to enhance their oversight work.
Prior to this, he was a marine planner for the South African National Parks (SANParks), where he focused on conservation planning and development of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) managed by SANParks. His responsibilities were to assist towards the declaration of new MPAs adjacent to coastal National Parks, which includes: strategic planning, co-ordination and collection of scientific information, preparing material for public participation processes, and engaging with local stakeholders.
He believes that the programme will further develop his understanding and knowledge of development policy and strategic public leadership.
