Mikang Longjan is the Program Coordinator for the Law, Justice and Human Rights program in the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) Nigerian Office. She started her career as a legal practitioner before venturing into the development sector. She has worked extensively on Hewlett, Gates Foundation, DFID, USAID, Global Fund, IHA and MSH projects. Prior to joining OSIWA, Mikang served as an International Research Fellow with Population Action International in the United States. She worked at the Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria as Manager and later Director Human Rights, Gender and Advocacy and worked as a Program Assistant and later Program Officer with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. She interned at Perchstone & Graeys and was the one-time Vice-President of the Legal Aid Council. She has obtained various scholarships and awards including the Atlas Corps fellowship and the Summer University Program of the Central European University and Open Society. She is a graduate of law from the University of Abuja.
